The Civ4BasicInfos file stores the game's basic information. In Vanilla (unmodded Civ4) and Warlords, it contained a large amount of data. In Beyond the Sword, it was split into multiple files, retaining only the overall concepts. The info that was previously in Civ4BasicInfos can now be found in the rest of the BasicInfos directory.
All tags must be opened and closed; the first is the "open", the second the "close" tag. If nothing goes inside a "list tag", then it should just be the opening tag with a "/" before the closing bracket. The following tables contain all available tags, as well as their purpose and accepted values.
Tags
Text
Tag Name | Description |
---|---|
Type | Name of the Concept. |
Description | Pointer to the description in the Civ4GameTextInfos_Objects file. |
Civilopedia | Pointer to the Civilopedia entry for the concept in the Civ4GameText_Civilopedia_Concepts file. |
Lists (Multi-line)
All List tags consist of an opening/closing tag, which is shown here, and then each entry within it is another tag with the same name as the parent tag, minus the "s" (i.e. singular, rather than plural).
Tag Name | Description |
---|---|
ConceptInfos | Header and footer for the entire file, containing child tags named ConceptInfo. |
ConceptInfo | Defines the different ConceptInfo entries and elements. |
Example
In the following example of code, please note that there is a specific order of all of the tags. You must list the tags in this order for the game to properly interpret your file.
<ConceptInfo> <Type>CONCEPT_ANIMALS</Type> <Description>TXT_KEY_CONCEPT_ANIMALS</Description> <Civilopedia>TXT_KEY_CONCEPT_ANIMALS_PEDIA</Civilopedia> </ConceptInfo>
